A few words from our founder - The Shoe Maven

TSM Originals merges my love for fashion with my mission to support the quest to cure Parkinson's Disease.

Several years ago, I was diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease (“YOPD”). Parkinson's disease is a progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects movement.  Parkinson's brings many challenges to daily living, including the inability to maintain good balance.  As the disease progressed, I no longer had the balance or control necessary to wear high heels.  This was no small matter, given that I have loved shoes since I was a little girl.

In August 2013, I underwent brain surgery to help manage my symptoms. The surgery was a tremendous success, and I regained much of my balance.   I was able to return to wearing many of the high-heeled styles I enjoy.  As a way of celebrating the many blessings brought about by the surgery, I created "The Shoe Maven" - a fashion blog with a focus on fashionable footwear.

Over the past few years, I had the good fortune to attend style conferences in Chicago and New York and met some wonderful people in the process.  The journey has been amazing, but Parkinson's still affects me every single day.  It also affects many other "young" people all over the world.  While the surgery is life-changing, it only helps manage the symptoms.  There is no cure for Parkinson's Disease.

With the support of my husband, TSM Originals officially launched in April of this year.  Our hope is to introduce more designs in the near future, and expand into offering other fashionable items down the road.  Most importantly, we hope to increase awareness about Young Onset Parkinson's Disease and support the important work being done by the Michael J. Fox Foundation. For every TSM Originals shirt purchased, TSM donates $5.00 to the Michael J. Fox Foundation to fund research and development to cure Parkinson's Disease.

Thank you for your support,
